Screen Production

Fascinated by moving image and storytelling? A career in screen production can offer great opportunities for you.

Today's consumers have many viewing choices, and TV and screen production professionals have to be versatile, adaptable, creative and technically competent to succeed.

You develop the practical skills to produce programmes for large, medium or small screens. Our students are well-known for their skills in pre-production, production and post-production within television and screen production.

What can I expect over the next two years?

In Year 2, the Screen Production major is busy and varied.  You watch, discuss and analyse films and start shooting your own productions from day one.  You create original documentary, fiction and multi-camera studio productions, and in the process, you rapidly learn to handle cameras, record sound and edit video.  Working in small teams, you become experienced at facing tight deadlines and creative challenges.

In Year 3, you develop and write a script and pitch it to your peers. At the same time, you develop advanced technical and creative skills in a demanding series of exercises. Your second semester is devoted to making one substantial production, in which you will take a leadership role as producer or director. You will also exercise your skills in cinematography, sound and production organization as you crew on various productions.
