Professional Performance Communication

Develop your confidence and performance skills for both live and media roles. Improve your presenting, acting, pitching ideas, public speaking and successfully participating in meetings. This minor integrates the theories and practices of communicating with an audience, using voice and movement. The skills are transferable and relevant to professional communication including more “traditional” performance contexts like acting.

What can I expect?

In Year 2 you will experience a whole range of professional performance roles through practical exercises working both individually and in groups. This will all be focused on extending your set of transferable performance skills, building your self confidence and encouraging you to find your own voice. The teaching and assessment is highly practical in focus and you will be constantly challenged to try new ways of communicating using performance. In Year 3 you will be offered the opportunity to focus on performance formats that use the camera both in non fiction and fictional contexts. A series of practical explorations will lead to a final group screen performance project. You will also develop the skillsets necessary to facilitate someone else’s performance by coaching or directing them to achieve their communication objectives.
